R1 ultimate or Noctua

linustouchtips

Okay i have a liquid cooler but want to see if i can make things even quieter.

The Cryorig R1 ultimate catches my eye for air cooling https://www.amazon.com/Cryorig-Ultimate-CR-R1A-Heatsink-2xXF140/dp/B00HUHC3WY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490894370&sr=8-1&keywords=r1+ultimate.

Right now i have a 4790k the top of the case is open for the radiator to cool it. I have low profile ram so i got enough clearance.

Or should i just go with Noctua https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NH-D15-heatpipe-NF-A15-140mm/dp/B00L7UZMAK/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1490895416&sr=1-3&keywords=noctua.

The real question is, does it come in blue? :^)

Those benchmarks are for the r1 universal, while the real pair for the nh 15 is the r1 ultimate

Why not?

IPPC's aren't as quiet as the normal Noctuas and aren't worth spending more for if you don't need the extra robustness.

The Ultimate isn't that much better. If the objective is quiet, the NH-D15 is still better.

You'll get slightly better performance and noise out of the noctua.  Though i personally find the cryorig to be far easier on the eyes.
