PC upgrade

So I have an AMD a10 apu and I am looking for an upgrade

At first I had my eyes on an Asus z170 with an i5-7600k

But bow the new ryzen 5 is launching soon and the 1600x is sitting at 249$(230euros)

Is it worth it go for a 150$ am4 motherboard and the new 1600x or a z170 with an 7600k?

No one can comment about it until the Ryzen 5 benchmarks go out, so sit tight for its launch..

Depends, if you're a hardcore content creater, get the 1600x and mobo.

If you really don't care about content, or you do a little bit, get the 7600k

CPU - i7-4790k

GPU - MSI 980 Ti

Mobo - MSI Z97 Gaming 5

Memory - 32 GB DDR3

Storage - 3.4 TB

Ryzen 5 is showing some promising single-core performance in price range, so it may outperform intel.

Well the PC is meant for 1080p gaming and I have an RX 470 that should work smoothly with both of them

Also according  to AMD the 1600x is 65% faster than the 7600k but I mean it is AMD what would they say

That's only for multi core workloads. If you do any sort of content creation then it might be at least around 50% faster when all cores can be used, but in single threaded workloads it'll fall behind.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Really? I guess I misread op's post. I didn't see him ask about waiting for ryzen. All I saw was if it was worth it to get a amd mobo and cpu or get a z170 with 7600k

Nope as he says down below.

LOL, no.

Every indication is that it will perform just like the R7 in gaming.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
