Hello everyone,

I would like to ask you guys, would a Intel Core i3-6100 be bottlenecking a Msi GTX 970?

Depends on the game. But not much

Not really, I owned an i3-6100 and R9 290. In very minor scenario did I notice my i3 being the issue. Biggest one was GTA V and Arma 3 (Arma 3 is a shit game anyway when it comes to CPU performance, my 6700k has minor issues with it every so often). Other than that, no. It probably isn't worth the $180 to alleviate it.

i7-6700k  Cooling: Deepcool Captain 240EX White GPU: GTX 1080Ti EVGA FTW3 Mobo: AsRock Z170 Extreme4 Case: Phanteks P400s TG Special Black/White PSU: EVGA 850w GQ Ram: 64GB (3200Mhz 16x4 Corsair Vengeance RGB) Storage 1x 1TB Seagate Barracuda 240GBSandisk SSDPlus, 480GB OCZ Trion 150, 1TB Crucial NVMe

Arma performs like a dog on anything that isn't true quadcore.

Not really in most games, worst you'll get is a little stutter because it's not optimised for dual-cores.

idk

Oh I know, runs like shit on my 6700k lol.

Still, the bottleneck is very minor. I even streamed games 720p60FPS just fine and could easily record 1080p60FPS using AMD Relive or no issues doing 720p60FPS using OBS.

Though @BestSpelingif you are buying a new system/upgrading or whatever. Go with a Pentium G4560.

for games that are cpu heavy and prefer quadcore (GTA V, cities:skylines, the crap like arma, etc.) that i3 wont be doing you much good, i'd say at least look forward towards the option of an i5 or i7.

i wouldnt really directly say it's out of sensible bounds, but it's certainly not "comfort zone".

i3-6100 is not quite enough for a GTX 970, if you want to get the most out of your graphics card get something better like an i5-6500 for example.

Why would you recommend a Pentium G4560?

The Pentium G4560 is a 3.5Ghz 2c/4t CPU for $60. An i3-6100 is a 3.7Ghz 2c/4t CPU for $100. Price-Performance is MUCH better.
