Is it worth going for an RX 480?

The Msi armour? I like the colour scheme, if not the regular gaming one?

MSI armor is fine though bit on a low end

I don't think Fury is really needed for R6S really. You are fine with an RX 480. Is it a 4GB or 8GB btw

Right now I'm using a GTX 970, and I have a free sync 144hz monitor, in the game I mainly play the 480 beats the 970 and it'd be a flat swap. Or should I try going for an r9 fury for 50$ more?

well I was looking at the fury 4gb hbm and it's 259usd and trades blows with a 1070 and nearly beats a 1080 in directx12 and vulkan titles. https://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI-Express-Graphics-11247-03-40G/dp/B0196LWL3W/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1480554704&sr=1-1&keywords=r9+fury&linkCode=sl1&tag=sciestud09-20&linkId=7e91402f44ccc4dc012c7f4c27e97f72

A flat swap? As long as it's not a garbage model, that's a good deal since a 480 is a bit faster than a 390x.

It's a decent model. Gets the job done. I see you have your 970 OCed though. If you want to OC, you'd be better off getting the GTR, gaming x or strix. The nitro is good too if you're okay with a bit of noise.

Yep, get the 480. It is a bit faster than the 980.

Yeah, with my 970 oc'd where it's at it performs similar to the stock 480. And is gigabyte any good?

Nope. Worst 480. Uses worse PCB components than the reference 480 and the cooler is garbage.

*Go with the Fury

*It has better floating-point performance, more shading and texture units, HBM memory and 20 more compute units than the 480.

All in all you should get around 10-15 fps boost depending on the game you're playing versus the 970.

On the other hand rx 480 can have 8gb vram but if you're planing on playing just 1080p you will be fine with 4gb vram.

*Here is another idea why not wait for amd vega gpus..

To be an expert is to know more about less.

The 1050,1050 Ti,1070 and 1080 G1 don't have coil whine. The 1060 G1 (rev 1) has coil whine, but it is the exception rather than the rule...

the fury is less than 259 before rebate today. ( 255 )

the 480 is faster than the 970. by a decent margin depending on the game ( 20% or so )

the fury is faster than both but is more power hungry.

it's a toss up.

And consumes 2x the power..... Not really worth it for 1080p, as the 480 and 1060 are on par with the Fury (at 1080p)

At 1080p, it is not much faster than the 480 and 1060...

When both are at stock, the Fury is 5% faster and consumes almost 100% more power.... If you overclock the 480, you can get it on par with the Fury and you have 2 times the vRAM capacity...

Yeah, and the freesync, and I'm fed up with nvidias bullshit at this point. I've been going Nvidia only, and I wanna see what AMD is like.. I like the Nvidia control panel, but the sli thing is just, no. I used to keep Nvidia for shadowplay, but now it's a hassle to use, and I can't even use it, simply because it just stops responding and either corrupts the file and takes hours to actually stop it or it will just tape a black image.. But I can just use obs, which is hard to figure out. Lol
