Asus rx480 strix vs. Msi Gaming X rx480

Hey ltt community,

Im am going to buy an rx 480. But I cant decide between the asus rog strix 8gb and the msi gaming X 8gb.

The asus is 10€ more expensive. Which one should I buy?

i own an msi rx480 and am very happy with it, there will be no performance gains between the cards so i would recommend going for the one you like the look of best

I have the 1070 Gaming X and I'm very happy with it.

The Strix for 10 EU more is surely worth it, it's generally a lot more expensive than most 480s. Mostly if you can fit it in your case you get the extra large ish fan and a massively overbuilt power delivery for overclocking

Pick the MSI Gaming X. I have an ASUS STRIX R9 390, and it's temps are waaaay much worse than any Gigabyte, Sapphire or MSI ones. (and my card is working fine)
But if you can, get some Sapphire.

Strix 390 =/= strix 480. That is completely irrelevant.

Also, the gigabyte 390 was the worst 390 produced. They also have the worst 480.

The strix 480 is fine. It's one of the best 480s.

Ive had a GTX 980 Strix, and I must say I was very impressed with the build quality and the cooler. The card never went above 62 degrees C, very impressive!

 

I vote Strix, also because I think MSI cards are ugly.
