New Computer Enthusiast

TraskJ

Hi all! I'm rather new at this whole tech thing, and I'm trying to learn as much as I can as fast as possible. I'm already studying Information Technology in college, but is there any data repository I can go to to learn more about hardware? I'm specifically looking for a BEGINNER's build guide for a desktop. I currently have an old HP tower I'd like to upgrade, and I'm wondering how I can figure out what kinds of RAM/Graphics/Processors I can install on the motherboard. I can find the exact model number if it becomes relevant, but if someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great. Also, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so sorry if this isn't it. Thanks!

Everything I know I learned from the internet. Also school.
