GTX 1070 not providing 144hz to Acer GN246HL

gamer1181

Hey everyone just built my new rig. I have a MSI GTX 1070 connected to the Acer GN246HL with a dual link DVI and to my other monitor with HDMI. In the Nvidia GeForce Experience program it says the acer monitor is running at 144hz, but it's running at 60hz (all games say 60hz). The device manager identifies this monitor as "Generic PnP Monitor". Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Did you change the refresh rate in your display settings or in Nvidia control panel?

Are you using DVI or Displayport?

He said a dvi dual link cable. I suspect it isn't. Prolly missing pins.

Thanks for the replies. I made sure it's 144hz on both the Nvidia program and my computers settings. I'll try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers tonight.

Got a pic of the pins on the cable?

I looked online for drivers for the monitor, but the latest ones are from windows 8, from 2014, and I'm already on those. Really strange, might be a slightly bent pin issue.

Found the issue, when I disconnect my 60hz monitor, the 144hz monitor starts working at 144hz. Now gotta figure out why the 60hz was limiting it. I think I read somewhere that vsync on the 60hz would limit the 144hz monitor down. Guess gotta figure out how to disable that next.

There shouldn't be a vsync setting in windows to lock the other monitor. Haven't tried it myself with the 10 series but the dvi and hdmi port cold be shared and causing the issue. Doesn't that monitor have dp anyway?
