Will it work?

kelvinhall05

I want (need actually, the CPU is thermal throttling in almost every game I'm playing) to install a new cooler in my Dell Studio XPS 8100. My question is, will a Cryorig C7 fit? If not, can you recommend a cooler that is compatible with the motherboard? Thanks!

No, it's riveted on.

I did today, with some Arctic Silver 5, helped a degree or two, but it's still throttling.

Replacing it would involve removal of the motherboard.

I know, but would the cooler even fit on the mobo?

Huh. Can you take some pics of the cooler? Chances are if their cooler can't handle it, it;s a TIM issue or external factor.

A c7 is not really an upgrade much.

Dimensions & Weight

Height: 16.1" (40.9 cm)
Width: 7.3" (18.5 cm)
Depth:17.9" (454.67mm)
Weight: about 22.4 lbs (10.18 kg)

Try Deepcool Gammaxx 400, still a better cooler. Do yourself a quick measure maybe?

Can't take a picture right this second, but it looked like a stock Intel cooler when I did look at it.

Oh god my grandparents have one of those with an i5 2400. It tends to heat up quite hot under load too. Try something like a hyper T4.

I was afraid that wouldn't fit. Also, this may be the exhaust fan (how should I adjust the fan curve?) but it sounds like a jet turbine while running Aida 64 Extreme

All LGA1115x use same mounting holes. I agree on M9i pick. That pretty nice performer.

Better than 212 Evo? Also, I can't find it anywhere...

Same performance for cheaper price. You located in Europe? Cryorig has some issues with getting their coolers here. H7 was unavailable for long time. H7 is another good option if you can get that.

212 might be your best option then. Or Pure Rock. Just make sure case can fit them. Measure distance between socket and sidepanel.
