Noctua NH-D15 and NZXT S340?

KARMAAA

Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if it's possible to fit the NH-D15 inside an S340? I heard some people on LTT Forums were able to, but they had the push the middle fan, the 140mm one, down as low as it could go. I'm not sure though, if it will fit even still. If anyone has been able to, I would appreciate the reply, so I can beast out my rig. :)

Noctua NH D15 with fan is 165mm, without them is 160mm

NZXT S340 support coolers up to 161mm so that would be really close (that is if you install without fan)

Yes, but some people here have been able to push the fan down 5 mm to get 160mm :) I just want to check that, this is true, from someone who owns a D15 and an S340, and has put it inside.

Well, the cooler clearance for that case is 161 mm as stated here: http://support.nzxt.com/hc/en-us/articles/203310114-What-Can-I-Fit-Into-An-S340-

The NH-D15 height is 165 mm as stated here: http://noctua.at/media/blfa_files/infosheet/noctua_nh_d15_datasheet_en_1.pdf (PDF ALERT)

So theoretically it will not fit. However this is something you probably could have googled yourself and if you are not sure, just get a smaller cooler. Saving you the trouble of ending up with something you can't use.

EDIT: edited measurements, got my sizes wrong

So theoretically it should fit exactly to spec. However this is something you probably could have googled yourself and if you are not sure, just get a smaller cooler.

I did google it, I just have a question about the middle fan specifically. Something the box or specs don't exactly outline. BTW, you read the dimensions incorrectly, look at the diagram on the left. It's 165mm not 161mm... I know how to use google.

Why not a different case like NZXT H440 or Noctua NH D14?

Already got the S340, D14 is the same size, you need to push the middle fan down too.

Height (with fan) 160 mm

Height (without fan) 160 mm

Yes, you still need to push the middle fan down as well. It's a 140mm fan and doesn't play well with the case. However, if the DH-15 definitely won't fit, then I will have to roll the dice on a D14. Can't return coolers in my country for whatever reason :(

I don't like the idea of water near my components. Even if I went with a good brand like Corsair, I want to rule out a leak unequivocally. Thanks for trying. I guess NH-D14 until someone with a D15 comes along and tells me otherwise, or a u12s, which I know will fit for sure.

Yes, sadly I tried sending him a PM, but never got a response :( I wanted to know how he jammed it in.

Edit: The second, guy, not the first one I PM'd. I didn't know there was a Finnish review out. TY

doesn't look jammed at all, the middle fan is pressed all the way down (own many d14) which is a good thing to cool the VRM as the rear tower covers the VRM heatsink.

in the picture, the upper 120 should be removed as to not to destroy the airflow through the D14 towers.

On most ATX motherboards how big is the gap between graphics cards and the D14 usually?

It depends on where the slot is placed. Expect the upper slot to be blocked unless you go for the NH-D15S. Noctua has more info regarding specific boards on their website. http://noctua.at/en/nh-d14/comp

The D15 fits as easily as the D14. Unless the D14 is substantially cheaper, the D15 is the better option of the two.
