Hynix HMT31GR7BFR4A not working with Supermicro X8SIL-V

SIL-VEven though Hynix HMT31GR7BFR4A is a registered ecc ram, it is not working with Supermicro X8SIL-V.

Unsupported Memory Installed Indicator led on X8SIL mobo lits up when mobo is powere up, and nothing happens after that.

Do I have some other options for registered ecc memory for this board.

Availability in India isn't going to be easy. So please suggest something which I can procure here in India.

Samsung RAM is a safe bet, never had a system reject that ram and is OEM for most server manufacturers now days.

Be careful, out there are two versions of DDR3: DDR3 and DDR3L, they look the same but not all can handle both

DDR3L is just low voltage which is more common in servers than standard voltage, power efficiency and heat etc. The spec sheet only shows 1.5V support but I checked the HCL list and it does support LV ram, it may be safer though to buy 1.5V ram just in case.

8GB modules would seem to be the most problematic for that MB.

** Note: Supports 1-Gb and 2-Gb x8 devices only - Intel 3420 / 3400 Chipset Memory Requirements

The second note is likely the issue with the current ram.
