Case making fans noisy, why?

My case fan does not make all that much noise if it is not on the case itself but when it is screwed in the side of the case it makes a horrible humming noise. how do I stop this? I have tried it with two different fans of different makes and it makes the same noise no matter what.

 

I have ordered some Corsair quiet Edition fans that should arrive pretty soon but in the meantime any help will be appreciated.

some rubber o rings or something similar should help reduce vibrations from fan being amplified by the thin case metal
