Best GTX 1080

Valhari

Currently I have a budget of $800 for one gtx 1080, I'm really confused between choosing a EVGA card and a Zotac one. I heard the Zotac AMP! Extreme one proved to be the best but then my friend said EVGA is the one to go for...

Also, should I go for x1 1080 or x2 1070?

Generally going for the strongest single gpu you can afford is the best option. Although there are exceptions to this, therefor it would help to know your resolution and games that you play.

I'd say get the cheapest, since they all perform the same anyway...

I'm thinking of the 1080 with hybrid water cooling, is that any good?

Firstly, I would recommend 1 GTX 1080 instead of 2 GTX 1070s in SLI. Second, I would not recommend EVGA. It was recently discovered that some of their 10 series cards were literally exploding because of VRM overheating and poorly made capacitors. I think the ones being manufactured now have the necessary thermal pads installed, but I still wouldn't trust them after this major fiasco. Their customer service is great, but you're probably going to need it. Honestly, I'd probably go with the ASUS Strix GTX 1080.

The brand will make very little difference if any difference at all if you're going for the same specs card, I use a Zotac one and I have literally nothing to complain about it, very good brand.

Personally a single 1080 is better than SLI 1070, if anything going with a single hardware decreases the chances of problems right? and I am not really into water-cooling especially in a GPU... I hardly think it is required but if you have the extra $ for it and really wants to for things like less noise go for it, there's plenty of people in the Cooling section that can help you.

Alright I think I'm gonna go with the Zotac Amp! Extreme one... gonna need a new power supply as well, any recommendations? Using a core i7 6700k, I might SLI my card in the future so 750W should be fine, yes?

If the PSU is one of decent quality, then yes.

BTW this problem was down to a specific batch of cards not all and the issue is being and has been resolved

@Valhari if you have a budget then get most reputable card but the lowest price one and if you dont have a budget i would say the EVGA classified for sure

1080 is overkill for 1080p...
