does the location on ps4 mean anything?

I put in the wrong address and I can't change it. What does the location mean? (I put that I live in the USA even though I don't because the games are cheaper in dollars.)

Should i make a new account? What does the location thing even do?

System time, PSN Store titles' availability and price, I'm sure there are other things I can't think of.

Yes, MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING. Read below for more information.

https://www.playstation.com/en-ie/get-help/help-library/my-account/access-and-details/why-can_t-i-change-my-country-of-residence-/

If you ever need to change your PSN Account country - YOU CANNOT, and purchases CANNOT be transferred to another account.

Why? Hell if I know; Sony has these weird lock-in policies that are very similar to Apple's locked down ecosystem.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, RTX2060) Mobile: OnePlus 5T | Koodo - 75GB Data + Data Rollover for $45/month
Laptop: Dell XPS 15 9560 (the real 15" MacBook Pro that Apple didn't make) Tablet: iPad Mini 5 | Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 10.1
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 | Panasonic TS20D Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

But does it affect anything? Like if I say I'm from the US will it put me in multiplayer matches with people from the us?

I'm almost certain match making doesn't care where you're from. At best, they'll try to find something with the least amount of lag.

This is true - matchmaking might prefer to match you with players in the same Account Region, but really, it uses your IP and fastest route to find matches.

I'd just be worried about ever getting new console hardware, or changing payment details, since usually your payment CC needs to match your Account Country.
