Which brand is best for an Ethernet switch: tp-link, LINKSYS, or netgear?

Just to add my two cents

Ubiquiti edgeswitches are nice and well priced, always had good experiences with ZyXel as well (put quite a few of them in production networks)

"Professional grade" would mean a managed switch.  Managed switches allow for various configurations such as multiple VLANS, traffic shaping, IP routing, and other Layer 2 and Layer 3 functionality.  If you don't know you want a managed switch, you probably don't need one.  It should be noted that managed switches are not just plug and play.

Yeah I'll be fine with the unmanaged TP-Link switch that I got.

I don't think I've heard of them but I'll try to remember the name next time I need to buy a switch.

This TrendNET would have been just as good and cheaper (and also in metallic case) : http://amzn.to/2fiC9b1

Possibly but I wanted a switch with indicator lights for connection speed and that one seems to lack that feature...
