New monitor, need help

derpylt

Hello Linus folks,

I bought Asus MG248Q monitor (1080p 144hz)

So I set the settings to 144hz and tried to play with settings but my problem is that the screen looks kinda fuzzy and sharp in a bad way.

I've tried adjusting sharpness and saturation but it really doesn't help, it made my eyes hurt after 30 minutes of watching.

I also got both DVI and DP cables, which one do recommend using for video editing and gaming with 144hz?

Thank you for your answers,

derpylt

both cables are good, DP 1.2 being better .

too much sharpness / not enough is bad. Advise : use a serious testing site and reproduce the same settings. In france I use lesnumeriques.com, they give config profiles to download and they're great

DP is recomended. DVI must be Dual-DVI not a regular one.

I use DP 1.2 and I have no problems on Benq XL2430T (competitor to your asus).

I will change to displayport.

But I have never experienced that a default monitor settings can be that bad. Any recommendations on how to calibrate the right way?
