Does LOD to 3.5 specification even matter?

I decided to breed new life into my old (2007) Sansa Fuze V1 - I just found out about RockBox.. yes just now..sue me.. -

It has a 30 pin connector on the bottom

and so I thought, aside from RockBoxing it, to connect it to an external amp as I'm getting one for my laptop anyway.

So I browse eBay and stumble upon: http://tinyurl.com/jcqswrr for 16 USD and http://tinyurl.com/gwcn9vg for 5.88 USD

So my question is..does the listed specification as being 'compatible' with this or that device even matter? Are all 30 pin connectors the same or is there more I should pay attention to when shopping for something that will work with my device?

Many thanks in advance.

so.. slightly off topic but am i the only one who thinks that looks an awful lot like apple's old 30-pin dock connector? :P

could very well be...but I just grabbed the first image I found of a 30 pin connector

when I couldn't find the picture of the specific Sansa Fuze V1 !

shouldn't make a difference...or does it?

that's my dillemma again :)

P.S Belgium has been many things (or lacked being alot of things) but never a former soviet state...or not yet anyways.

Wait, doesn't it have a 3.5mm jack anyway?

Edit:

I would NOT try using the apple one on the sansa fuse. They may have the same amount of pins, and the same shape, but they are most likely wired very differently. Since it's also supplying power, then you could end up damaging your sansa.

I suspect the audio quality will stink with such an adapter.

I just want to use this adapter to run through to an external amplifier off of which I will use my headphones/IEM's.

Or what did you mean exactly?

my Sansa has a working 3.5mm jack, if that's what you're asking?

This thing is functioning essentially as a DAC, correct? If so, all bets are off in terms of SQ.

Because, as I said twice now, I want to use it with an amplifier.

Having a line-out from the mp3 player to the amplifier yields advantages like not amplifying the white noise and savings on battery life (due to, again, not using the internal amplification).

Yeah the Sansa will keep converting the Digital to Analog.

So what do you think...go with the (more expensive) specified LOD adapters or any 30 pin to line-out converter?

You are missing solve things.

The adapters will end up using more battery.

I'm missing solve things? Can you please speak in complete sentences?

And no, line-out uses less to thesame amount of power as a regular 3.5 mm out.

I have a Fiio X1 which has built in line-out.

Some* not solve.

Doing some reaserch, I'm wrong you are right.

However, due to the nature of what's happening, you will need to get a specific lod sansa one for it to work.

It's all proprietary.
