I think you have your choice already with the P650RS. Just make the changes to the CPU and storage and maybe source your own OS and you might end up within the same budget. I'ma see if I can find a similar thing on Mythlogic or HID though and be within budget. If Eurocom were cheaper, you could probably get from there, because that have a 10% off for students... but they likely would be still as expensive.

So something like this?

This needs to be stressed. Clevo laptops without a stable bios are worse than Asus laptops. Maybe not as bad as Acer, but definitely worse than Asus.

Now I don't know about THAT. My D900F was and both sisters' N155RFs are stock from Sager. They work just fine. They could be better, but they aren't instantly trash.

If you're a performance chaser, however, that's a different story. But as-is, with so many prema partner shops, I CANNOT recommend a stock Clevo to anyone. Prema or nothing, go for broke. There's no reason to not get them, and they WILL be useful. And if you're someone who likes things custom? Better for you.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

well it is not everyone that can get a Clevo laptop with the Prema mod. I would have to go to the US. to get one with the Danish/nordic keyboard

Well, in your case you don't have one close (at least that you know of). This isn't the case for AUS, with Metabox partnering with Prema (voiding Venom computing as a viable option at all, etc) or I believe even Singapore. And I think there's shops in Portugal and the Philippines and even one in Brazil.

I do understand your situation though. Honestly you might just be able to donate a bit to him and get the mods yourself at some point though.

I never understood why big retailers like Sager and XMG can't partner with Prema. Shouldn't Clevo be perfectly happy someone is doing their job for them, beyond the fact that each sale would have a small kickback towards Prema, it wouldn't effect Clevo at all as it would only cut into the bottom line of the specific retailer.

I know of that list, but it isn't perfect. Like Metabox isn't there though I know they're in the process of partnering with him, and HIDevolution was added long after I knew they were a partner.

I saw that XMG doesn't want to tarnish their great standing with Clevo, but I know not how true this is.

Clevo... I don't know why they won't simply allow him to work on their BIOSes. They have awful software support in general, even though it appears they're trying, but Prema would be a big help to them.

Higher resolution would be nice. I guess I just don't get what's so bad about the 15.6" ASUS model.

Back to the original post, I was in the same position, looking for a workstation for school. I'm going for engineering, so I ended up deciding on an MSI WS72. I I haven't received it yet, but will do a review when I get it.

It's around the $2k budget, and in my experience, MSI comes with much less bloatware than HP does with their ZBook work stations. The work stations often come with minimum 16GB DDR4, and the NVIDIA Quadro GPUs. I would look for workstation for the emphasis on achool. If you want to game I would build a desktop. You can probably build something better than you're going to get with a laptop, and maybe have enough over to buy a small laptop if you still need one. Otherwise, go work station.

Apparently Linus is releasing a video about the NVIDIA Quadro and it's ability to get and be equivalent to the mainstream GPUs. We shall see, but online comparisons don't seem bad at and Lloyd. Go with and let least M2000M.

That video is 100% BS, it is on vessel and he claims that the only reason to get the quadro in his video is if you need the extra vram. I wanted to slap him when I heard that, you get a quadro because of support, because what good is a GTX 1080 in a 3D program that only supports FirePro or quadro GPUs.

Yes. They all basically have mostly stock firmware and ECs and stock vBIOSes

To be honestly frank with you, I wouldn't take a pascal GPU beyond a 1060 without a custom vBIOS. Prema has more than once referred to "Boost 3.0" as "Throttle 3.0" and said not to be surprised by 1000MHz clockdrops.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

Yup. That's what was said. People run short benches and don't use the things to game over longer periods. I ran a firestrike at night here once, at 1006/6000 (up from nVidia base of 721+ boost/5000) and my cards didn't even crack 80c once. If I tried playing a game stressing both my cards for 10 minutes I guarantee you I wouldn't have sit at 80c.

Because it is, xD. It's simply stronger than the last gen. And everybody is jumping straight on it, but that's it.

I'm really annoyed that nobody is criticizing pascal except tht one AMD lover on youtube.

But I don't want AMD lovers to do it. I want impartial people.
