Should I get the NH-L9x65 for my 6700K?

I made a post in "Air Cooling" but it get next to zero attention. I know this is a small CPU cooler for an unlocked CPU, but right now I just need something small. I'm looking at tests using a 4770K, which is notoriously much hotter than the 6700K. While temps aren't all too savoury from reviews (usually in the 80s under stock clock wprime load on the 4770K), I should at least achieve below 70C, correct?

That will end very poorly. That is an awful cooler for that CPU, and it will be very hot, likely more then 70C. I would recommend the Hyper 212 Evo if you need something budgety, or try a 120/140mm Water Loop/Prebuilt?

I've only ever run that cooler on locked i5's and i3's for small form factor builds. While it very easily handles stuff like the 4130, and 4460, I can't say how well it will handle a 4770k, even at stock speed.

Its heat dissipation is pretty damn good for its size, but its not magic ye'know. It'll perform a touch better, but a LOT quieter than a stock cooler, so there's that at least. You can expect temps probably around 75-80 under load; a little on the hotter side, but still perfectly safe for that chip so long as its not run pegged at 80c for days on end.

Oh, a 6700k? Damn I must be more tired than I thought.

the heat output on a 6700k at stock speed is pretty damn respectable. You should hover around 75c maybe only occasionally reaching 80c. should be just fine.

I also have a pretty mean NF-F12 case fan setup, with a giant 200mm in the front. I'm in an Enthoo Pro. I just want less than 70C under 1440p maxed out gaming load. I don't mind cranking the cpu fan speed up either.

On that cooler holding below 70c while under hard gaming loads is going to be a bit hard, even at stock. Is there no way for you to get another cooler? There are other options available at a similar price that perform better.

I'd prefer it to be low profile. I have an NH-U12S, but even when secured, it wiggles a little. I'm also too afraid to REALLY tighten in because of the Skylake bending thing. Noctua's statement on it also said to be careful with coolers that are more than 700g (which the U12S is).

So yeah, I'd really like low profile, and AIOs are too ugly, bulky, etc. Also too expensive.

Oh, and I should say, I did tighten the U12S until the screws wouldn't go further, but it still wiggled.

What do you think of this? 66C on Adobe Premiere Pro rendering, on a 4GHz 4790K. Should be even lower on the 6700K I presume?

TT has it not breaking 60C on a stock 4770K with Aida64, which I can only assume is a hotter chip than my 6700K, so my results should be even better...

Noctua says 95W. Anyway, I tested with it, borrowed from a friend. Gaming was fine, below 75C, but Intel XTU made it throttle. I have an NH-U12S here. The reason I was going for an NH-L9x65 was because I was afraid of bending my CPU (the Skylake thing). But apparently it seems I have nothing to worry about as I've seen others who've had NH-D15s (which I'm pretty sure are far heavier than my NH-U12S) on a 6600K or 6700K with no issues.
