Rather just use a modern board for 24/7. moving to z77 soon to stop degrading the xeon :P

Considering mine when it was last overclocked (rebuilding rig still, just needs Win 7 installed then the software) was operating safely at 4GHz...and coming close to matching my i5 4440 while being more fun in the process.

Damn, my QX6850 (which at times gets recognised as a Q6600 when the bios screws up) does 3.8 at 1.5V

OpenGL: 103.70 fps

CPU: 1020 cb

For some reason the CPU wont go to 4.1 ghz. the benchmark took place at 3.9Ghz even as I had set the clock speed to 41.

Any ideas why would this happen? CineBench should push it to 41.

Definitely not right with that CPU Test, being beaten by a STOCK 3930K.

That's the story of some rigs though (eg. my i7 4790K).

Check RAM, And wether you are running single channel, what was your 4790K Score?

For quite a while I couldn't get it above 796CB, after multiple Windows re-installs I managed to get it to 849CB, which was faster than the 4.6 and 4.8GHz runs I did before I got Windows sorted (those runs were 822 and 848 respectively).

That's what is worrying me. I am running 8GB memory modules in quad channel with a total of 48 GB RAM. Any ideas what to check to get better scores than STOCK 3930K?

Two things that might help. A Windows re-install and running the benchmark with Cinebench set to realtime.

It definitely increased the score a bit for me, however my 4790K is also held back by DDR3 1333 (which I originally bought for my i5 4440-its the second last upgrade left, after getting a better PSU).

Real-time bumped up the score by a few notch. New score 1087 up by 67 points. Still not awesome!
