I had a simililar issue on my laptop. Try a BIOS update. Your temps are fine, and either way the system would slow itself down before it allowed itself to over heat. Next time it happens, check in Windows event error and see if there are any errors. Windows automatically will log a restart, and if its caused by some type of hardware failure, it should help determine the issue.

More info needed... did you install the Drivers for the new GPU? as above said, did you check for BIOS update?

so the kernel power error is hinting that power could be an issue. You said that you upgraded your video card, is it possible that your PSU doesn't have enough wattage to handle the increased power draw? What PSU are you using and what was your previous GPU. Also, check into the power coming from the wall. If you have a UPS, try connecting your PC to that. If you want to update BIOS, go to your motherboard manufactures website and search for the model number, and then install the most reason version. DO NOT DO THIS UNTIL YOU ENSURE THAT POWER IS NOT AN ISSUE. If power cuts out from your computer while the BIOS is updating, that will likely corrupt your BIOS.

previous GPU- GT610 2GB
replaced my PSU to accommodate the GTX 960
i don't have a UPS .
Old PSU didn't have the 6 pin connector for my video card. so i had to get it replaced for a new one.
previous PSU - Stock that came with my Xpro cabinet.
current PSU - VIP 500 Gold.

P.S. i live in India and the prices for computer components here are really high so i got what i could for 5,500 rupees. thats about 82 USdollars. My GTX 960 here in india is for rupees 20,560. so thats about 310 USdollars. i'm looking for inexpensive ways to get this done. i cant afford further replacements. thanks for all the help.

Well hopefully that will fix it. Where was it plugged in before? That PSU is plenty powerful for a 960.

I will say it is is probably PSU issue, you might have to replace it. When you buy PSUs, make sure you buy from a reputable company, like evga. If you end up replacing it, this is a good one.
