Sorry about the layout buts here is a possible suggestion for a system build.

With a budget of 2k, I would go for a 980ti over a 970. A 970 wont be the best for that monitor, but a 980ti will run it fine.

I'd say for the most part, if it's what you want, and it can do what you want it to do(probably yes in most cases) than go with it. Only big thing is you don't really need that NIC, because the motherboard gives the exact same speeds. Hope any of us can help!

Well, thanks for the fast replies!

I love tech but I don't really know what kind of graphics card and cpus I should buy.

I know that GTX 980 is a awesome graphics card but I don't really know.

This will be "good enough" for gaming, but with a budget that high I would say upgrade to a 980, and maybe consider an additional 1 or 2 TB hard drive for storage if you're doing anything other than gaming. Also I've seen some bad reviews of that Kraken headset.

I don't need anything more than a 250 GB SSD or HDD. In fact, i've 1TB of hard drive and I have around 850 GB free.

Is there a reason for the dedicated network card, I would also sacrifice a bit of cpu for some more gpu if you want solid 144hz performace and step that coolewr up to a NH-D15 or some AIO water cooler.

The headset is okay but puts quite a lot of pressure around your ears so if you have glasses I would consider something else (Yes I have one so I speak from experience) And I also had the blackwidow chroma but I ended up switching from that to a QPAD with mx browns because the Kaiths had problems (the N button would register clicks if it wast pressed down and rocked forward and back which resulted in double clicks)

Hi,

I searched a lot for desktops but nothing is good enough for me so I decided to make my own gaming desktop. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Y2PhnQ

Is it good enough for gaming?

Thanks :)

Its not bad but I'm unsure why you need the separate Network adapter? I would also advise against the Razer Kraken headset. Its not a very good headset. I'd spend the extra and buy something like the Sennheiser G4me one instead. It would make for a much better experience.

Your graphics cards isn't too bad but something like the gtx 980 or r9 390x maybe a better choice in the long run. You may also want to rethink your CPU cooler choice if you want to overclock the chip.

@rcole134 I don't really know how to overclock and I believe that I wouldn't overclock my cpu since it's 4GHz and i7.

If your not going to overclock then save yourself $40 and pick the non 'K' 6700 instead.

Thank you!! But what's the difference between the i7-6700 and the i7-6700k? It's just the CPU frequency or...?

The i7 6700 is a locked slightly slower version of the i7 6700k. The 6700 runs at 3.4GHz and turbos on all cores to 3.7Ghz. The 6700k runs at 4Ghz and turbos on all cores to 4Ghz

So, the difference is not much, only 300 MHz and the difference of the price is 40$. I'll get the i7 6700 instead. Thanks for explaining me.

Theres no point in spending an extra 100$ for a i7

the frame difference from a i5 and a i7 is litterley 2-3 at the most

This is purly gaming so you won't benifit from a i7

Its better to get a 980 ti and a i5 then a i7 and a 390x/980

No problem. If you looked at my suggested list you probably noticed I selected a 850 watt PSU. This is because although many will tell you different a PSU is at its most efficient when around 50% usage. Its also quieter then too.

I would have agreed if not for the current set of games coming out wanting a core i7 in there recommended requirements.

Show me what games want hyper threading/virtual cores

You realize you will get a bigger performance increase from the graphics card then the processer...
