That version of the XPower doesn't have OC socket, the Godlike board does I believe.

If you already have the Godlike board in your signature, does that mean you already own it? If so, why are you asking? :P

MSI Godlike Gaming uses Killer networkfor both Wifi and the dual LANs

Godlike also have RGB LEDs for the lighting effect

XPower uses Intel LAN

@Lays

actually both uses the OC socket design

the XPower mostly feature V check points for extreme LN2 OC

damn i like they bundle the delid die cover and mounts for LN2 pots

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

if you really hate Killer networking products

then stay away from the Godlike Gaming

Intel LAN are miles better in reliability

https://www.msi.com/product/motherboard/X99S-XPOWER-AC.html#hero-overview

the Xpower Ac has a die cover when you have a delid CPU so it will hold it down firmly

if you OC a lot

then the XPower is the better and cheaper choice

You can't use the die cover on an x99 chip lol, they're soldered to the IHS.

I was wrong about OC socket thing, a lot of other companies were releasing 3.1 boards that had the socket to replace their old lineups that didn't have it, MSI was one of them I believe, but not on those boards.

Intel LAN really isn't "miles better", I've had experience with both on NEWER boards and the only problem I ever had with Killer networking was a memory leak with the driver, a quick google search fixed it.  Killer networking has came miles since the olden days when it first came out, it's MUCH better now.

yes you can

yes it 1Gbps

No you don't delid X99 chips, the IHS is soldered onto the die, you'll kill the chip if you do it. Unless you are a professional with serious practice, don't try it.  These chips aren't like consumer ones where you can just take a razor to it.

The boards are very similar, if you can get the X Power and have $170 left over afterwards, then yeah go for it.

the reason for me hating Killer was the software aspect.

memory leaks and high CPU overheads causes more headaches to me when i have quite a number of users complaining of network dropping out.

i found this niffy product here

it claims to make delidding easier

http://forum.hwbot.org/showthread.php?t=148622

uses sheer sliding force to break the glue between the lid and the die

Yes I know what it is, but that doesn't delid an X99 chip.

You do know what solder is right?  It's literally metal that basically melts into things to attach wires / components together etc.

Think of welding, the IHS is essentially welded to the die.

Holy crap MSI have a lot to answer for, promoting deliding on a x99 chip how stupid.

The thread got a little scary there...lol

I challenge anyone to find a picture of a actual x99 chip delidded.

Personally I would stick the a RMA GODLIKE, it's a much better board and has USB 3.1, where the X99S Xpower only has USB 3 and no OC Socket.

The MSI x99a Xpower AC has USB 3.1, removed the advertising of delidding and has the OC Socket.

Only on the X99A version of the XPOWER, but even then the GODLIKE is the better premium board.

I'd own one, if I'd had the extra $$$ at the time I wouldn't of got my x99a Gaming 7 board and went with the GODLIKE.

Also, what's better about the godlike. I'm sure it's better. But I'm not sure u use all of its features. Can you have me some reasons why the godlike is more suited for my needs.

Thanks

You've never really outlined what your needs were, but in the scheme of MSI motherboards the MSI GODLIKE is like the ASUS Rampage.

Now here's the but, if you're looking for second to none x99 boards the Asus x99a Deluxe or Rampage are the boards to look at over MSI.

If sticking with MSI still go the GODLIKE, it's newer, has reinforced PCIe sockets, RGB light (if it's your thing.), wireless lan, USB 3.1 type C, in the end both boards are going to overclock fine, heck with the right CPU my MSI x99a Gaming 7 will do 4.6Ghz on a 5820k  (mine cpu sucks and only does 4.3Ghz, but I tested with my mates to make sure it isn't the board)

I know people knock the killer nic, but I've never had a problem with it, though I don't use the Killer software package just the stand alone driver.

What's actually wrong with yours?
