How do I shorten and sleeve fan cables

To shorten them you'll need new crimper pins, a special tool for crimping them, and then all the sleeve you'll need. 3-4mm for fan cables, and heat shrink. Oh and the tool for removing the pins, although something narrow and metal also works.

Honestly shortening them is so much work I don't even do it, and I sleeve all my own PSU wires. I would just sleeve them and find a place to tuck them away.

hey

Is there a good way to shorten fan cables and what tools do i need to sleeve the cables properly?

thanks

It depends on the tools you have on hand but you have two main options. To either take off the sleeve to cut the cable shorter then solder the connections back together, insulate and re install the sleeve shortened cable or cut off one end and re-crimp the pins and connectors on the wire and re-sleeve it which requires a crimper.  I would recommend the solder method which will probably be the easiest and cheapest solution.

You could either use a crimper, or just cut the wire somewhere near the fan, shorten it, then resolder the cable. After that you could just cover it with a sleeve/ braide of your choice.
