Are aluminum mouse pads good for certain mice?

Lightning

It seems like my G500 is terrible for aluminum mouse pads.

Thats just one of the problems when aluminium is sandblasted and your rubbing the pads constantly against, the finish will come off.

What a silly question, you can't use a mouse on a keyboard.

Use masking tape as a mousepad

The old Steelpad's were pretty good, but if you want to use such rough surfaces you need appropriate teflon mouse feet. I used the Icemat Second Edition for a looooooong time and loved it, but after the local gaming stores stopped selling replacement teflon feet I switched to a QcK Heavy cloth mat.

Aluminum is not good. It has a texture to it, which act like sand paper. Cloth base mouse pad are great, but create resistance. Plastic sheet seams to do fit. I wonder how it would be if we try on glass.. or maybe textured glass, like the track pad of the MacBook Air. I mean it's easy to slide your finger. Hmmm... Of course that is assuming you have a mouse that track on glass, and perhaps that is why no manufacture wants to try it, let alone have a high price tag, which will probably lead to have high-return rate by people not know that you need special sensor on the mouse to be able to track on glass surfaces.
