Dota 2 online getting about 10fps max

So I started palyin dota 2 and never did get greater than 10 or so fps but I figured it was being bottlenecked by my athlonx2 5200+ so I upgraded to a phenomx4 9850 thinking that would be good enough for a game like Dota, but that did nothing.

I am running A phenomx4 9850, direct cu hd7770, 4gb ddr2 800, and storage is 240gb samsung 840, I'm thinking I should easily push 60fps max settings but I can't.

I am running linux mint 15, in cinnimon I cant even run Training with bots because the frame rate is so terrible but in mate I can run bots smoothly but online is still laggy.

I have tried http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=208&t=136433 so I figured it must not be a problem with linux and I have seen similar complains about it on windows 8 http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=82045. I am only running fglx video drivers now but even amd 3.1

Why do you always die right after I fix you?

Is that game CPU bound? If so, that is the reason.

Wouldn't have thought so, I get straight 60FPS on the highest settings with my crappy processor.

Like I said, if it is CPU bound.

IIRC its ubuntu that's supported and not mint

on my other crap box running mint the most basic flash games ran horribly then installed ubuntu 12.04 everything i tried ran quite nicely except tf2 as that was still early linux beta.  was using an old ATi x19 predator

TL;DR try Ubuntu 12

I may have read through the OP too quickly. Now it seems like an OS problem.

alright I jsut did a fresh reinstall of Mint 15 and worked though installing AMD driver 13.4 hoping that it will fix the frame rate issue, but AMD doesn't support mint well so it's a bit buggy and I had to make some cuts to get it working at all, so hopfully this worked out right if not I will try Ubuntu, I'm just really a Mint fan because Unity is pretty bad and Gnome 3 is useless

More than likely an OS problem. Dota 2 works fine for Windows. It's been having trouble for Mac lately. I wouldn't doubt Linux support is pretty bad right now.

Desktop: Intel i5-3570K (stock) | Asus Sabertooth Z77 | G.Skill RipJaw 16GB 1600MHz | Samsung 840 120GB | EVGA GTX 680 SC+ 2GB | Fractal Design R4 | Windows 8 Pro (soon to have dual boot Mac OS X)

Retina Macbook Pro : Intel i7-3840QM | 16GB 1600 MHz | 256GB SSD | Nvidia GT 650M 1GB | Mac OS X 10.8.5
