Virtual Reality Upgrade during Black Friday

Bananagab

Hello everybody,

Virtual Reality is coming next year and I want to be part of it. My current rig includes an i7 4790k, 8gb of ram and a GTX 780. According to Oculus, I have to upgrade to a GTX 970 to be able to run the Rift.

Since Black Friday is this week, should I upgrade now or wait a few months in case there's a new GPU providing a better bang for the buck for VR?

970 won't cut it - you need low latency unless you're into puking a lot. Fury X/Fury/Nano are the main cards capable of VR atm

VR is a fad, fads are bad m'kay.

in past yes since the tech wasn't there yet

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.1 Corinthians 13:4

it's still not there - you need Fury CF to comfortably drive VR and 980 Ti SLI has latency issues since GDDR5 is not up to the task. Puke heaven
