It's not. They haven't even released a fix on the "Stable" stream yet, only a beta fix

I just want to get rid of my GTX 970. Hated this thing since the day I got it...

Fury_2014_poster.jpg

Terrible movie btw.

"Normandy" i7 4790K - GTX 970 - Phantom 410 (Gun metal) - Z97 Extreme4 (asrock) - 128GB Crucial SSD - 1TB WD HDD - H60 Refurb. - 7 case fans | G710+ Keyboard, G230 Headset, Acer GN246HL Monitor.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.

I can't find a reason to like it.

Warning, some spoilers.

Is it a serious look into WW2 combat?

No it was stupidly inaccurate bordering on insulting to both the German and American forces; mostly the American forces. Basically everything that happened relating to actual combat was painfully bad. Entire end scene (a painfully long scene where Germans basically walk in front of the 'heroes' gun in a great battle) was terrible and very, very long.

Was it a high-paced action movie?

No, half the movie was boring. Just sitting around looking moody. A very long, painful, awkward, and unnecessary scene where the commander and Shia forcefully make two innocent German women cook and eat food with them in their own apartment comes to mind.

Was the movie revenge porn?

No.

Was it a good look at the 'emotional'/human side of WW2?

Fuck no. Throughout the movie the commander tried to get Shia to breech several laws under the Geneva convention and U.S. military law. Forcing him to shoot a surrendered German (despite literally several hundred people surrounding them), forcing him to basically rape a girl in her own home, etc..

I can see the way they were trying to go with this film. Basically a combination of all the above categories. It failed at every one of them though in a just painful and bad film. It's very sad because it's entirely the fault of the writing and partially the directing. The actors, sets, scenes, props, etc. were absolutely great. The acting for example was surprisingly good. Logan and Shia did far better than I ever could have expected.

You were supposed to 'understand' the commander and why he was a hardass. Not like him, but be sympathetic. In actuality you are almost happy when the Germans shoot him at the end.

You were supposed to see the horrors of war on both sides; german and american. You end up just having a terrible taste in your mouth that someone could even think that this was an accurate representation of warfare.

You were supposed to see the crew as accomplishing an epic feat at the end. You just feel that the German military must be full of morons and it's amazing they even got as far in the war as they did.

You were supposed to be at least entertained or thinking. I was pissed off and felt cheated out of a few precious hours.

/rant

edit-

I still can't figure out why people like it. It must be the acting. It was great and I loved it when *they actually got to do acting*. Painfully long scenes full of questionable writing decisions and bad action scenes just ruin it.

I'm not one of those people who hate anything that's historically inaccurate. It's just this *tried* to be and advertised itself as accurate; yet failed badly.

Do you mean BSOD's?

I had 6 BSOD's because of those stupid wifi drivers since my clean install (a week ago) I am now using a pre Windows 10 driver that doesn't give BSOD's...

edit: I found it!

Well I would never buy something like this

1 Too cheap for 4K?!

2 Strange brand

3 I hate windows scaling and 4K on 28" is too small IMO

4 My video card doesn't support 4K 60 Hz

I was an early buyer....

Basically the earlier 900s (particularly the 970) had massive coil whine issues. Pure speculation on my part, but I'm fairly confident that Nvidia made it so none of the big outlets would report on it. Samples that were known to be sent to any notable reviewer were checked to be clean. That way, as far as media was concerned, they were either required to shut up, paid off, or believed to just be exaggerated. Half the reviews on Newegg, however, featured complaints of coilwhine. Users on forums who were regurgitating claimed it was all just noobs who "don't know that's what high end GPUs sound like" (actual quote).  I, being new to all of this, trusted the many reviewers who brushed it off. Turned out I'm a f*cking idiot for doing so and am now left with... this. Being from the midwest I feel the comparison to a squealing pig is appropriate. When playing *any* game, I can hear it clearly through very good headphones playing music. I can hear it across the room clear as day. There are no fixes short of stupid-low underclocks (stupidly high OCs also work if you do well in the silicon lottery). Many people would get fixes if they capped their FPS (using V-sync and such) at ~60fps. Not an option for me because I like twitch shooters and use a 144hz monitor, so anything below 144 fps is just dumb. Even then though tests I ran restricted as low as 15 fps were terrible; arguably worse because the lower note carried better.

/rant

Lesson learned, never be an early adopter when there are other, established options (i.e. the R9 290X at the time). Also don't trust reviewers completely for anything besides overviews on features and specs. Will be trying to grab a good deal on current gen stuff when the next gen starts coming out.

Edit- Wow, two rants on a thread. I'm on a roll... Quick, someone ask me about politics!
