So after Kim dotcom warned people not to use the current version of Mega, which he no longer owns. He announced plans to launch Mega 3.0 on Friday in an interview with Wired UK.

 

The new Mega will be supported by public donations. Dotcom notes that the new site will be cheaper to operate thanks to the dropping price of storage and bandwidth. It will also be fully encrypted, which he says is key to protecting user privacy.

In the meantime, Dotcom says you should stop using Mega immediately. The company was taken from him by a Chinese investor in an apparent hostile takeover. Those shares were then seized by the New Zealand government where the company is based. As a result private information stored on the site may no longer be secure, though Mega has denied all of Dotcom’s claims so far.

 

Sad to see that some investor did a takeover. Hopefully we will get mega back, this time as a non-profit.

So, the stuff that happened a week ago wasn't actually fake. Excited for Mega3.0

Me to. I prefere it over google drive, onedrive and dropbox. I never got the speeds, i got from mega, when i was using dropbox.

Statements directly from Mega.co completely contradict everything that Kim Dotcom is saying though, so I'm taking this as one of those "he said, she said" arguments.

 

Besides, this is basically Kim saying "Hey guys! My first 2 grand ideas failed spectacularly, but this 3rd one is sure to succeed! Come on over!".

First one got shutdown by fbi (movie companies) Not really anything he could have done. The court cases were pretty one sided and unfair.

I LOOOOOVE Mega. Whenever a site re directs me to a mega download I feel good inside. It is fast looks amazing easy to use and free 50gb of storage!

I will happily use the new Mega Upload so long as it offers me at least 50GB of free data or more. Until then, I will keep using Mega.
