Is this possible to fix? I needed more storage and I wanted to use this Hard Drive but then I saw this issue.

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Hey Dive5885,

C5 error (Current Pending Sector Count) usually means that the program has issues reading certain sectors and might indicate that they are software or hardware bad sectors. I would advise you to run WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool on the drive to determine what the exact problem is. I would run both the quick and the extended tests to check the drive's S.M.A.R.T. status as well as for any bad sectors. Here's a link: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=wLIqGm

Post back with the results. In the mean time I would back up all the data in case something goes wrong with the drive.

Sadly, the WD DLGD indicated that the drive indeed has bad sectors and is about to fail. I would advise you to back up all important data as soon as possible and consider replacing the drive. Having bad sectors does not mean that the drive will fail right away but it will eventually and it is not safe to store your data. I could suggest running chkdsk /r from the cmd to isolate the bad clusters and get the data from there wherever it is possible and prolong the drive's life a bit more.

Is it possible to get the hard drive replaced if its under warranty due to this issue?

You should contact our support to get a RMA (Return Material Authorization) number and instructions on how and where to ship your drive.
Here is where you can check your product's warranty status: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=hv4v0j
Here is also our warranty policy where you can find further instructions http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=6WWp8t

Hope this helps :)
