When I bought mine, I had to buy it that day or else my wife would change her mind and I wouldn't be able to get a decent gfx card at all. Just so happened that the local electronics store(Frys) had just gotten in a shipment of AMD cards but was still waiting on a nvidia shipment. So, I got a 7970 and couldn't be happier. Seriously, as long as the card I have is top-tier and can play any game I want at the max settings, then the gpu and brand name doesn't matter to me.

Rock On!

I'm really pleased with my EVGA gtx680 so that's my favorite for now but I'll be interesting to so what AMD and Nividia got to offer for us down the line.

My favourite GPU is the Radeon HD 6950, because when i got it, it had the best price/performance ratio. 200€/270$ for a gpu that powerful (BF3 on ultra with smooth fps) is just awesome.

i think my favorite has to be the ATI Radeon HD5750, the first graphics chip i got that could actually play the original Crysis decently. it was playable at max even when paired with a dual-core Celeron.

of course, it goes without saying that i've enjoyed playing Mirror's Edge on a GTX460 and Crysis 2 on my current GTX570, even with a low-end Phenom II X4 paired with them.

Desktop: CM Elite 130 - Corsair CX600M PSU - Asus Maximus VI Impact - Intel Core i7-4790K (@4.4GHz) - Corsair H80i - 2x8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3-1600 - Asus DirectCUII Radeon R9 290 - 250GB Samsung EVO SSD + 4TB WD Red HDD

Laptop: Asus N56DP-DH11 (AMD A10-4600M - Radeon HD7730M) -------------------------------------------------------- I know, I'm a bit of an AMD fanboy --------------------------------------------------------

i used to have a HD 5450 with a pentium dual core.

i played crysis ( dont knwo how i did it), farcry 2 and a bunch of NFS games. i even overclocked it, it had a passive cooler i strapped a 80mm fan on it to cool it.

amazing card. after about a year later i sold for 40 bucks

favorite from AMD/ATI: HD5750 - it was the first graphics chip i got that could run the original Crysis at max settings and still be playable, even when paired with a dual-core Celeron.

favorite from Nvidia: GTX460 - even though i now have a GTX570, the 460 could play Mirror's Edge flawlessly with PhysX on and Metro 2033 at max with a steady 30 fps (i turned on v-sync because my monitor has horrible tearing problems with some games).
