120/140mm Silent Case Fans

Matsy

Hey I need 120/140mm case fans as my current fans decided they would start buzzing/ticking away for no good reason because they don't like silence.

Need something that is silent and cheap as possible, I couldn't care less what they look like, just need silence.

Thanks!

40 dB....sorry but no even on 5v that is going to be too loud, when I said silence, I mean I don't want hear them at all.

My case atm (with the buzzing fans turned off) is completely silent and I want to keep it that way.

beQuiet are good. pick ones with wide fan blades that reduce turbulence. silent wings are around 15 dba

new noctua fans obvious choice, but the prices are too high.

Decibel readings aren't completely indicative of perceived noise, but yes, those fans are quite loud. You may be interested in this channel.

Yeh I'm more irritated by the bearing noise more than anything else which is what has happened to my fan's, they are still quite as far as blowing air is concerned but the bearing is buzzing/ticking away and its driving me insane!

The coolmaster ones suffer from bearing noise as far as I'm aware...

I think to get pure silence bearing wise, I would be forced to invest in noctua fan's though :/

Please, in future post some specs and comparisons. Those plastic-fantastic fans with 2000 rpm are louder at 5 volt than bequiet at 2200 rpm. Note that at higher rpm with fan blades that have no profile to eather reduce drag ->( ones with holes in them, those are rare, i have a picture in pc magazine where quiet cpu cooler uses those, and i saw ones in german shop hoh.de ) or to reduce turbulence with other profiles on the tip / end of the wing or across it -> will be alot louder. At lower rpm ( 0 - 1500 ) its not so noticable. Then, bearings and build quality is the key.

Fan speed @ 12V (rpm)

Air flow @ 12V (cfm, m3/h)

Too expensive regardless, they are like £12-15+

Was looking at Thermalright TY-147 which are apparently silent but they are PWM....my fan controller can only fit 3pin's unless I cut the plastic...

Thats the 5400 rpm version most people buy the 1850 rpm version and gentle Typoons are one of the best fans in the market.

Over the past year I've spend a stupid amount of money on fans in search of something that is silent.

In my experience cheap/silent do not go hand in hand. It's very unlikely that you will find cheap fans that run silent to the point where you can't hear them. I can hear my Noctua NFP fans and my Be Quiet Silent Wings 2 fans at 5/7V in a quiet room and they are regarded as some of the quietest fans available.

It seems to me that if you want something that is very quiet, you will most likely, unfortunately, have to spend quite a bit of money.
