Do I have to clone my system?

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm getting ready to build a new computer as I have sold my last. I pulled my hdd from it so then I don't have to reinstall my games. I have a 256gb m.2 ssd I want to put windows 10 and a game on it.

I have very little knowledge of how hdd and ssd work and all that but I want to know if I have to clone windows 10 to the ssd or can I just install a copy of it on the ssd? Or would that mess something up

My hdd is a 2tb Seagate barracuda drive

clean install will be the best way, and then copy the game you want over after the install. clones are usually an issue imo.

If your games are on Steam, you can install a fresh copy of Windows directly onto the SSD, plug in your HDD after the installation and use it as a secondary internal disk. All you'll have to do to recover your games is by adding the Steam folder on your HDD as another Library Folder. Steam will then scan that folder, find your games, and you're good to go.
