weird gpu problem

ghiaknchi

Ive got a weird problem (not really a problem), i have an rx 580 8gb and for some reason i just cant overclock it over 1440 Mhz, and Im only able to do it on Raden adrenalin software, because when i try to do it on msi afterburner the computer freezes if i try to overclock it from 1411 Mhz (base) to 1412Mhz...... which is like meh? you think its just the silicon lottery?

You should use AMD's software for AMD (or Radeon, excuse me). If you can do it with AMD software and it is stable, idk.

PC specs:

Ryzen 9 3900X overclocked to 4.3-4.4 GHz

Corsair H100i platinum

32 GB Trident Z RGB 3200 MHz 14-14-14-34

RTX 2060

MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge wifi

NZXT H510

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB

2 TB WD hard drive

Corsair RM 750 Watt

ASUS ROG PG248Q

Razer Ornata Chroma

Razer Firefly

Razer Deathadder 2013

Logitech G935 Wireless

Looking at this: (and some limited personal tinkering experience with 480s)

You dont seem to be missing out on much; these few mhz wont make a ton of performance difference but will increase temps and thus fan noise disproportionally.

Its fun to try, its fun if it works (and your willing to deal with the power/noise), but if not, nothing to lose sleep over :)

(just my humble view).

rx480/580 did, and still do represent insane value vs gpu power, and for a looooooot lf games and gamers still rocks :)
