PSU

noobftw

Built a Mini ITX NAS, has an energy efficient Xeon D built into the mobo. Eight 5400RPM HDD'S maybe, maybe 4 SSD's in the future. Will i get away with a 450W PSU. I have seen several builds use the same, but when i used an online PSU power calculator it came to 650-700W?

Online PSU calculators aren't very accurate, so I doubt it really needs 650-700W. Most systems will run fine on 450-550W unless you're using power hungry parts.

Any other recommendations of gold or bronze rated PSU's that are very quiet. I read some of the Silverstone's can be quite noisy?

Iirc they had a recall recently so I’d avoid them for the moment.

Pretty sure all bad units are gone now. They fixed all of them.
