i had 870m, and it played gta 5 at 1080p high. Granted, it is an old game, but 970m should perform better than the 870m.

Yeah gta V is possible. Apex is just not possible at 1080p no matter what settings to get stable 60 (not counting the resolution scaling lowering mine is at 78% and that is when I can keep 60 fps). Overwatch in it's current state is basically medium 1080p and that will do. At launch I could go high ultra but not anymore :p.

Things like the og doom ran well on low but had a lot of dips on medium. Overall I am not happy with this card but I didn't really have a choice into getting this laptop. Overall I would not recommend this laptop even for 300$ for gaming as it's just not a gaming machine anymore.

Hey,

So I found an Alienware 17 R2, for only for 300€ and it was valued at 1599€

They upgraded it, now I'd like your opinion if you think It's good enough to run games such as Overwatch, Apex, GTA V, etc.

Hi I have a laptop with a 970m and a every so slightly better cpu (6700hq)

Pretty much it's garbo for new games. Apex does not run at 60fps stable on 1080p low, overwatch works on lower settings same does gta V. Newer games are just a no go at this point for 1080p. All in all defo not recommended I suggest you save up for a desktop as that alienware is anything but portable.

A 970m is basically somewhere between a 1050 and 1050ti which already just do not game well anymore. So pretty much avoid.

It absolutely is not worth 1600€, but for 300€ it is an okay deal i guess?

The 970m performs way worse than a normal 970, which is already a weak card by todays standards, but 1080p medium/high graphics at 60fps should still be doable.

But battery life will be pretty terrible as standard for that gen of laptops, so don't expect to game on the go for more than 1h.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

Well it most likely was 1600€, but that was when it was new some 6 years ago :) Now 300€ is probably still a bit much.

1080p medium is already a stretch :p. I have the 970m believe me it is not great :p.
