Transferring Steam games to a new PC; how does that work?

Tomsta

I have built my new gaming machine however currently i don't have my 2TB game HDD in it (it's in my current machine). When i do move it over how do i go about getting Steam to realise the games are there?

In the bottom left corner of steam you should be able to "Add Game" or something similar, and from there you can just go to our steam directory and input it. However I'm personally a fan of just wiping everything and reinstalling.

Just select the folder on the 2TB drive as a game library and it should do it automatically it did that for me at least

Reminder⚠️

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

Please try searching up the answer before you post here but I am always glad to help

Rename SteamAPPS folder to GAMES.

UNINSTALL Steam on that drive (leaving the games folder)

Reinstall Steam in Nee location, inside tell steam to use that original location as your game directory/library directory.

Done.

Youtube how to do thisnif need be first..

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
