Free video editing for extremely basic stuff

Hi guys, looking for a super basic video editor that will run on Manjaro. Literally all I need is cutting/pasting, some fade in/out effects, and maybe text or image overlay or whatever. I have never used any video editing software before so I don't know how to use it or what's out there. Anything good and fairly user-friendly (or with good docs)? Thanks!

Looks like exactly what I would need, but would prefer it offline. Thanks for the suggestion though, may end up using this.

I never used it so not sure on how easy it is to use but OpenShot and Olive might be worth trying, and Blender can also work as video editor but it isn't that friendly to someone that isn't familiar with it.

You can use ffmpeg from the command line to cut and stitch together videos, static images, etc. I think overlays also. Not sure about transitions.
