Motherboard and gpu performance

Mathew123

Hey, so i've noticed my gpu is really falling behind with new games, so I decided I would like to upgrade it. The problem is I have a really old motherboard and I reckon there might be some problems with performance. I could use some advice from you guys wheter there might occur some problems. Thanks

Motherboard: Gigabyte ga-h81m-hd3

My current gpu: Radeon R9 390 GAMING, 8GB

Gpu I would like to buy: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 OC 6GB

The 1660 is really not that much more faster than the 390, since the 390 should perform similarly to a RX 580 or GTX 1650 Super. I'd wait for Ampere or RDNA2 later this year for a GPU upgrade.

Also, what CPU are you using? In what games do you notice the 390 not being enough anymore, and at what resolution/settings?
