How do people actually use these ultra minimalist keyboards?

I would prefer not sculpted profile.  I use my old membrane keyboard while I'm modding my mechanical and I find it quite nice and faster to type on.  The keycaps are kinda slim and the board is shaped like a staircase.  Honestly if it could be mechanical and tkl I would keep it.  That's why I wanted to try some xda or dsa, cause the profile is slimmer than the OEM I already have. 

 

I ordered the cheapes dsa on amazon.  All those place you recommended are quite good but it's a bit expensive when in canadian $ and when you add the shipping cost ... it's just too much for me to spend on a "not sure if I'll like it but I'll buy just to test it kit".

It's not the most beautiful kit but it will be good for a test kit.

How I do it is with customized layers. why i do it is because building and customizing boards is fun, and key switches and caps are expensive.

 

i can build more small keyboards than i can build big keyboards
