Sounds like upgrade time. Suggetions?

Heya!

It seems like my mainboard has quit working at this point.
My System shut down yesterday and wont turn on anymore. THe power supply clicks on and then off again. By unplugging the GPU or other "unnecessary" things it stays the same. If i unplugg the mainboard and short the pins to start the psu for like filling the loop and turning the pump, it works fine.
For me it seems like my X99 board has quit working. If you have any other suggestions, please tell me.

I looked for a replacement for my:
Asus X99 Strix

i7-6800K

32GB Corsair Vengance LPX 2600MHz (8 Sticks)

and came to a replacement with:

Asus rog Strix X570-E

AMD Ryzen7 3800XX

32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz (4 Stick)

The rest of the system doesnt change:

Asus 1080Ti

2 SSD's

1 NVME

Would that be a good replacement or should i change something?

I use my system more for productivity then gaming though.

Thanks!

K~

You definitely cant test the system without the graphics card as there's no display output at that point. Have you tested removing memory sticks?

As for the replacement build, I would prefer 2 sticks of 3600MHz memory, the board can definitely be cheaper say the TUF board if you need to get money out from somewhere

I know, but if the GPU would be not okay, the system would stay on and boot, but it doesnt boot and stays on for only like 3 seconds. Ram was removed too. No result.

So like 2x16GB instead of 4x8GB?
I didnt saw the TUF board, i will look for that. Thank you.

Budget isnt really set so its open.

Thanks!

First of all, do you actually NEED a X570  motherboard? Will you take advantage of it? If the anwser is no, I'd go with a X470 board.

The RAM is fine, you can overclock it no problem, but i would look for a 3600Mhz kit. Else, this will be a beast of the build, happy building :D

For 32GB you'll need 2x16GB

for overclocking btw, less sticks is more capable. Maybe more sticks look better that's subjective

Don't populate your memory slots if possible.

Leave some for future upgrade.

The CPU would need a X570 for the use of all features, so i would say yes. My main Storage is a NVME 2TB and the direct connection is a plus for me.

But i will look into X470.Thanks

No. the CPU don't need X570.

Unless you have a PCI-E 4.0 SSD.

Oh, now i get it. My bad!

I misunderstood that. I wasnt really sure about that feature but thought i would need it with my NVME.

So i could go with a X470 then?

I would love to squeeze some extra performance out of it. Is the X470 for that good aswell?

Cooling would be handled by a monoblock.

Thanks!

NVME is supported even in the first gen motherboard.

A topend X470 will perform just as good.
