Which SSD should I buy?

What to look for when buying an ssd?

For a budget SSD, those specs hardly matter.

There was a tier list for specific models, but I can't seem to find it. However, I've used a lot of different SSDs, and for your use case, the cheapest ones available aren't bad. Granted, SSDs with no cache have a somewhat shorter lifespan, but I usually don't find that to be an issue.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Ok, you can act like I'm buying ssd with 2tb of storage, not 120gb.

Which specs are really important?

Are those m.2 any good?

P.S. I've got GIGABYTE AB350M-DS3H V2 mobo.

I heard that coffee's good for my sex life.

It isn't.

It kept me awake through the whole damn thing!

I actually had to participate.

M.2 is just a form factor, so if you get an M.2 drive the only advantage is that you don't have to worry about SATA cables, it just plugs into the board. Often, companies will release M.2 versions of current hardware, like the WD blue which has a 2.5" and M.2 version.

On the whole, however, super cheap M.2 drives are a little better than super cheap 2.5" drives. If you want to get the cheapest M.2 drive you can get, that's probably a good call.

Aegis' is pretty dated, but it'll do: https://www.reddit.com/r/SolidStateStorage/comments/anxwn9/ssd_tier_lists_guides_v2/

  • 4 weeks later...

Are those read/write speeds should "match" each other?
I've seen bunch of SSD these past few weeks and I'm guessing that

read 550 mbps and write 500 mbps is better than SSD with

read 550 mbps and write 320mbps???

Common sence I guess.

I'm assembling computers since I was age of 15.....and that was 2001.

But I'm not into these new techs....so reading what are you guys are writing makes me feel like a total NOOB! :D

I just added another section under "Choosing a SSD" that briefly covers marketing and listed performance (in comparison to more "real world") since you appeared to also be asking about that earlier in this thread. As in I just added it this second. :)
