Fallout 4 Load Times

TheVirusNX

I am running into 5+ min load times when fast traveling, going in and out of buildings. I only have 1 mod "Faster EXP" for a 2nd play through. I play on Ultra settings 720p. My system specs are I7-4790K "standard clock", 32GB DDR3 1866Mhz, R9 290X Lightning, 1TB Seagate 7200RPM with OS on a 256GB Samsung 850 Evo. Would trying to free up some space and putting FO4 on my SSD help? Or lowering my graphics help?

Thank you. I will uninstall and install it on my SSD.

Defragment the mechanical hard drive. I'd recommend O&O Defrag  but there's free stuff like Piriform Defraggler

If you want to run from SSD, you don't need to uninstall, just move the folder to SSD if you want to.

If the game is on Steam, create a Steam library on your SSD and you can choose from menus to move the game between Steam libraries.

My load speeds have not changed going from a 10,000 rpm HDD to a SATA SSD and now a 2tb 970 EVO. What the extra speed is used for it to keep load-ins smooth as I move around the map.

I have a heavily modded game and have noticed that the game loads data into vram very slowly. When the vram tops up the game finishes loading.

Then a save is young and I have not built much and there are not many NPCs it takes no time at all to load but as the save gets older it takes longer and longer.

To me that are enough time to make coffee or get a snack so not a big deal.
