Ryzen 5 2600 vs 2600x

Im planning to buy a cpu mobo combo on Saturday. There is a new store opening near me. 2600 is 100$ and 2600x is 169$. Is it worth it to buy the 2600x for an additional 70$ or its more value to just get the 2600? I have rtx2060 btw.

Hi,

No, get the 2600, it's a 2600x without steroids but the price gap is too huge.

For 70 bucks you get a better cooler and higher clocks.  For 50-60 bucks you can buy a solid cooler and then overclock and achieve similar performance as the X.  Unless of course you don't want to overclock or install a cooler, in which case it might be worth it to buy the X.

For 200$ you could probably get the 3600 which is way faster, so no. The x versions are most times not worth it unless they are the same price

If they're charging 170 for a 2600x there's no chance they've got a 3600 at $200. $170 is already way too much for a 2600x to begin with but everyone lives in different areas with different pricing.

That's true, but nobody has to buy from one specific store. And maybe the 2600x pricing is screwed because 100$ for a 2600 seems about right

correct and I'd expect a 2600x to be around 140 or 150 at the most.  and I'm just going off the OP's interest in this specific store, sometimes buying options can be limited for whatever reasons.

still pick the 2600 out of the two, better value. Invest the money in a decent tower cooler or save it
