I9 9900KS+aorus master

Hi guys, just finished my build and went after linus tips. Got a noctua d15 on this beast and to say I am a bit disappointed on the results cooling my CPU.  CPU stays on 5Ghz on stock. (Only changed the memory profile on XMP) no other changes in bios and my temps while gaming are above 70°C with spikes to 80+. Stress test in realbench cpu throttle in couple minutes. I have checked the mounting, repaste again no better results.  Is there something I have to change in bios for better results? I think the cpu voltage is on auto so it goes from 1.25 to 1.45 . I am not a guru in overclock that's why i chose the KS. Any help very appreciated.  Thanks

Well, your voltage should not be higher than 1.4V. Vhange it to 1.37500 V and see what happens. Also 5ghz is pretty high for air cooler, but you have really good air cooler so that is not the problem.

Motherboard tier list. Tier A for overclocking 5950x. Tier B for overclocking 5900x, Tier C for overclocking 5800X. Tier D for overclocking 5600X. Tier F for 4/6 core Cpus at stock. Tier E avoid.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

( You can overclock Tier C just fine, but it can get very loud, that is why it is not recommended for overclocking, same with tier D)

The 9900/k/ks, 9700/k are pretty hot cpu's. 

You have a perfect cooler, but it needs good airflow.

75c is a normal temp, start worrying above 80c.

Ok, so I have made some changes for the airflow in the case and my CPU when gaming is at 65 -70°C and stress test for 15 min in realbench  around 85-98°C . Is that good enough for Noctua ?

Like stated before, you're pushing 14nm, 8 cores, 16 threads, FULL MAX POWER 5 GHZ!!! and expecting decent temps with an air cooler, might be thermal paste, maybe you need an AIO like the 115i or a 360mm one (if you have a 9900k might as well get a gold plated one) an air cooler might not be able to keep up with it.

What is your ambient temp? My NH-D15 handles my 9900k just fine when overclocked to 5 Ghz.

I have found the issue.  Noctua is perfect . Aorus master bios was pushing vcore as default to even 1.6V+ . Made some changes in Bios and 1.26V seems stable at 5Ghz. My temps dropped to mid 70 on aida full stress. I am happy with it as long as its stable at that voltage.  Thanks for your time guys.

Default motherboard settings are often not the same as running the cpu at stock.

For the 9900k in particular, the Power Limit is often set at Unlimited which may also causes high temps.
