Dead 3600X?

MOBO: MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X

Mem: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB DDR4 3600

Gfx Card: Old R9 290x while I wait for my Saphire Pulse 5700XT

PSU: Corsair RM1000

 

I had just finished putting it together so no OC or anything and while I was installing windows the computer just stopped and wouldn't turn on again. No post, no fans just the initial click of the PSU. The only way I can turn it on is by unplugging the CPU power cord from the PSU or the board and of course the CPU light turns on and won't post. Kinda looks like my CPU just died during it's first minutes on. But I don't know enough about AMD's quirks these days so I want to make sure.

Double check all cables and connectors to make sure none of the cables are damaged, otherwise you could try taking it into a computerstore to see if they can test it

you may have left a bolt behind and shorted something out

I double checked all the cables and even installed the PSU in another computer and it's working just fine. I reseated the CPU with new thermal paste. Might have to lift the board and see if there's anything back there but what kills me is it was running for about 20 minutes and just died out of nowhere.
