I recently upgraded my PC and now my copy of windows 10 is no longer activated

When I go to troubleshoot and say i've recently changed hardware it says that it is unable to activate windows.

The error code displayed in the activation screen is 0xC004F025.

Are you able to reactivate your PC with your key?

I presume you tried to to reenter your key and it still won't activate? What hardware did you change exactly? As far as I know the Windows activation key is tied to the motherboard.

This is every day question here.

You must link your local account to Microsoft Account first, before hardware change.

This was previously done. I have changed hardware before with no problems

I don't have a key I upgraded from Windows 8. And I changed all components but the drive. I've linked my key to my windows account though so previously it hasn't been an issue

I guess the hardware change may be too radical, windows also has a limit for the max number of hardware changes.

Limit or not, Microsoft support should help. They write about that linked account and hardware change, but not about limit (at least I see no limit info on Microsoft website where activation after hardware change was explained).
