Elite Dangerous - voice commands and controller/keyboard

I recently downloaded Elite dangerous for Oculus and I know there are a million play guides found all over the interwebs. I also downloaded voice attack (free version) that allows 20 commands but I don't even know which commands I should se it up with. With voice attack, does this game also require a keyboard or controller or can every command be spoken? Blindly fumbling on a keyboard while not being able to see my surroundings does not sound like a fun experience. An XBOX controller along with voice commands at least sounds tolerable to play with.

 

It looks like an incredible game but is ridiculously complicated and the 'tutiorial' is less than helpful as they don't even show you how to set it up for VR.
