ASUS B250 MINING EXPERT as a file server?

Has anyone used an ASUS B250 MINING EXPERT outside of mining? It is an  LGA 1151 board that has 1 x PCIe x16 slot and 18 x PCIe x1 slots. Here in the UK I can buy one for ~ £20 new so to me it looks like a cheap option for a server.

 

Am I missing something here? Did ASUS do anything irritating so that it is useless outside of mining or is this a genuine option?

should work fine, its just a normal board with a few more x1 slots. 

 

Personally wouldn't be my first pick for a file server though

Should be fine, yeah. It's just a regular cheap B250 board with a different physical slot arrangement.

 

I would say find a server board with 7 single slot spaced 16X slots so that you can use RAID controllers or better network cards, but that's just me.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)
