Do you already have the PC? If so just run the game...Probably 60fps it's not too hard to run

What CPU exactly?

CPU bottleneck from the sounds of it.

If you can, overclock the CPU to see if it helps. If you can't overclock, or it doesn't help, theres not much you can do other than lower settings.

Lower setting makes the situation worse, much larger FPS swings.

Just run 1080p/high.

I have the cpu overclocked at 4.2 GHz but its a dual core 2 threads

Sounds like a CPU bottleneck.. It bottlenecked my i5 2500k @ 4.6Ghz.. (4thread)

If you really want to play it I'd suggest a CPU + Motherboard upgrade..

If you have a low budget I suggest sticking to AM3 or trying to find a 2nd/3rd gen i7. A bulldozer 8150 should do a darn sight better than that APU.

It's still DDR3 so keep your ram, you should be able to find an old high end cpu + Mobo for under 100£ / $ / euro

MAIN RIG = CPURyzen 5 2600 @4.2 on all cores Mobo: MSI GAMING PRO CARBON AC RAM:Corsair Vengeance LED 16GB 3200MHz DDR4 GPU:MSI GTX 1080 GAMING X OC Storage: Corsair MP510 NVMe M.2 480GB, 2x SSD HyperX Fury 512GB (games) PSU:EVGA Supernova 850w G+ Gold Display(s): , Asus VP28UQG (4K Gaming), HP Z24i (Color Accurate work) Cooling: Hyper 212 LED with Corsair SP120 Fan Keyboard: Corsair K68  Mouse: Logitech G502 HERO Headset: Shure SRH 840  Case Thermaltake Versa H27

Yeah, CPU bottleneck. That is a really old CPU by design if @KarathKasun is correct.

You want 4 cores, minimum. What motherboard do you have? I have had plenty of Am3 systems over the years, it really is an underappreciated platform at the higher end.

BD is not significantly faster for light games.  Its the same architecture and requires motherboards that are difficult to find if you want to get clock speeds up.

Its not AM3, its FM2+ I think.  Best CPU is the same BD type CPU.

@CrAzY156

Best way to think about BD cores is that what you have now is a single core with SMT.  The best CPU for that MB is a dual core with SMT.

FX-8000 series AM3 CPU is like a quad core with SMT.
