Sorry, not to be just a smartass... yes you're mouse is wearing out and since it's old, you just need to buy a new one.

Switch wearing out. You can try replacing the switch itself but easier to replace the mouse.

It's hard to help when you just say things aren't working, and demand a fix. 

If you're loyal to the model, you can buy another, or try to buy parts. 
If you're not loyal to the model, buy another. 

 

other than that, the open-ended nature of the question makes it hard to help.

What mouse are we talking about? I had the same issue on M705 and decided to open it, per suggestion of some members. Turns out the switch had a small metal piece that registers the clicks but was to too much bent it. So I had to straighten it out a bit, just for it not to be so much bent it but not straight either, and mount it again with tweezers (will not lie, took me an hour almost for that part). Works fine now. 

Apparently it's a common issue with Logitech mice, in case you have one.
